Human remains have been found by detectives investigating the disappearance of a man who has been missing since last month.

Kevin Bishop, 32, from Paisley was last seen on July 27 but was only officially reported missing by his family on August 4.

Since then a number of media appeals have been issued in a bid to trace Mr Bishop.

But on Monday Police Scotland confirmed officers had made a grim discovery at a property in Schaw Road, Paisley.

A force spokesman said: "Human remains have been found within the house and a post-mortem will take place to establish the identity.

"We can confirm that the family of Kevin Bishop has been made aware."

The spokesman confirmed a 46-year-old man has been arrested and inquiries are ongoing.
