A man has suffered a serious facial injury after he was slashed during a gang attack on a Glasgow street.

The incident took place at around 9pm on Thursday when the 47-year-old victim was approached by the gang of youths on Dungeonhill Road, Easterhouse.

Words were exchanged before one of the youngsters punched the man.

Another then produced a knife before using it to assault the victim.

After striking him with the blade the gang, who are described as being dressed in dark hooded tops and grey tracksuit bottoms, then ran off in the opposite direction.

The victim was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a serious facial injury and later released.

Police believe the incident to be a random attack and have appealed for witnesses.

Detective Constable Sean McLoughlin, of Shettleston CID said: "This appears to be an isolated random attack on the man which has caused serious injury. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and either witnessed the attack, heard a commotion or saw a group of youths running off, to please get in touch."
