Police are searching for two men after a bar was deliberately set alight in the east end of Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Westburn Bar on Carntynehall Road at around 5am on Saturday.

Following a joint investigation between police and the fire service the incident is being treated as wilful.

From CCTV enquiries, two men were spotted outside the premises at the time of the incident and appear to have used an accelerant to set the building on fire.

They are then seen making off towards a nearby footpath.

The first suspect is described as of medium build and wearing a striped hooded top, a baseball cap and dark trainers.

The second suspect is also of medium build, wearing a dark hooded top, a baseball cap, dark trousers and white trainers.

Staff at the bar said it remains open with only minor damage done.

Detective constable Lyn Stewart from Shettleston CID said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Carntynehall Road in the early hours of yesterday morning, and may have noticed two men matching the above descriptions acting suspiciously, to get in touch.

"We would also ask any motorists with dash-cams to come forward as they may have captured footage which could be of interest to our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Shettleston CID via 101, quoting incident number 0903 of August 18.

Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.
