A motorcyclist has died following a crash near Dumfries.

James Dalkin was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle on the A76 when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

The 61-year-old from the Larkhall was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary but died a short time after admission.

The collision took place at around 4.20pm on Saturday.

The 38-year-old male driver of the other vehicle involved was uninjured.

Sergeant Jonny Edgar at the Road Policing Unit in Dumfries is appealing for witnesses to the crash and can be contacted via telephone on 101.
