Police are hunting a hit and run driver after a woman was struck by a car while using an ATM outside a shop in Stranraer.

The 60-year-old was at the ATM outside WH Smith on George Street when she was hit by a black Vauxhall Astra-style car which mounted the pavement while trying to overtake a bus.

The car did not stop after the collision and officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which took place at around 9.45am on Saturday.

The woman was not injured but was left in a state of shock.

A police spokesman said: "If you were in or around the area and can help us identify the black car and driver then please call us on 101.

"Also, anyone with any dashcam footage which might assist is also asked to contact us."
