A family of a man who was stabbed to death outside a home in North Lanarkshire has paid tribute to the "much-loved" dad.

Kevin McGuire was attacked by two men who got out of a car on Morar Street, Wishaw, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 51-year-old was stabbed several times and was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he later died.

Officers launched a murder enquiry on Tuesday and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Following his death, Mr McGuire's family said: "Kevin was a much-loved son, brother, dad and partner who was a kind man who would help anybody in anyway he could.

"Kevin was thought of highly by his work colleagues and customers and he will be missed."

Police said attackers jumped out of a black Nissan X-Trail car which had been driven into the street by another man before the attack.

Detective Inspector Carol Craig said: "This was a violent attack which cost Mr McGuire his life.

"This does not appear to be a random incident and I am content that he Mr McGuire was the intended victim and this was indeed a targeted attack.

"Nonetheless I am appealing for anyone who was in the area and has any information that will help us identify the group of men responsible."
