The death of a man whose body was found in a North Lanarkshire house is being treated as suspicious.

Stephen Anderson, 51, was discovered within a property on Slakiewood Avenue, Gartcosh, at 12.50pm on Tuesday.

Following a post-mortem, detectives are treating the death as suspicious.

Enquiries are ongoing and officers are examining CCTV footage and speaking to local residents.

Detective Inspector Grant MacLeod, from Police Scotland's major investigation team, said: "Mr Anderson's family have been left completely devastated by his death and it is absolutely vital that anyone who can help us provide them with answers comes forward.

"I would like to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Slakiewood Avenue between 8pm on Monday and 12.50pm the following day when his body was found, and ask them to please get in touch.

"If you saw anyone arriving or leaving the house where Mr Anderson was discovered, or someone acting at all suspicious in the area, contact the police.

"No matter whether you think your information is significant or not, let our team of detectives determine that, as even the smallest detail could be important.

"I would also ask anyone who was in the company of Mr Anderson between that time period, or who has any information about his movements in the lead up to his death, to get in touch."
