A signalling fault has caused major rail delays for commuters during rush hour.

A number of services have been delayed or cancelled due to the fault between Glasgow Central Station and Newton Lanark on Monday morning.

Replacement buses have been laid on to cover the routes affected.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: "Network Rail have advised us of a fault with the signalling system between Glasgow Central and Newton Lanark.

"Due to this, services may be delayed, revised or cancelled."
