The body of a man has been found on waste ground in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to a footpath near Kinfauns Drive in Drumchapel, Glasgow.

STV News understands a man was found dead at 7.45am on Tuesday.

Officers have launched a police helicopter following the discovery.

Police have cordoned off an area from Ledmore Drive to Drumchapel High.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Formal identification is yet to take place and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We received a call at 7.48am to attend an incident on Kilcloy Avenue in Drumchapel.

"We dispatched two ambulances to the scene."
