A man has had his fingers chopped off with a machete in an attack.

The fight happened on Millroad Street in Glasgow shortly before 10.05pm on Monday.

A 35-year-old man is understood to have had his fingers slashed off with a machete.

Officers have cordoned off the scene while investigations are carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "At around 10.05pm on Monday police received a report of a disturbance in Millroad Street, Calton.

"On arrival, they found a 35-year-old man with injuries to his head and hands.

"The injured man was taken to hospital where he is currently being treated and hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

"Police inquiries are continuing."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman added: "We received a call at 10.14pm on Monday, November 5 to attend an incident on Millroad Street in Glasgow.

"We dispatched a Rapid Response Unit, an ambulance and our trauma team to the scene.

"We transported one male patient in their 30s to Glasgow Royal Infirmary."
