Tributes have been paid to a man found dead on waste ground in Glasgow.

The man, named locally as Darren Sinclair, was discovered at a footpath near Kinfauns Drive in Drumchapel.

STV News understands the 27-year-old was found at 7.45am on Tuesday.

Officers launched a police helicopter following the discovery and cordoned off an area from Ledmore Drive to Drumchapel High.

Grieving loved ones have taken to social media to pay tributes to Mr Sinclair.

A friend wrote: "RIP Darren Sinky Sinclair thinking of your family in this sad time."

Another said: "RIP to the best brother a could ask for and a brother that loved all his troops Darren Sinky Sinclair."

One added: "A cruel world we live in RIP Sinky my thoughts are with your family at this sad time."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
