A man has been arrested following a fatal crash between a motorbike and car on the East Kilbride Expressway.

The collision took place at around 6.45am on Saturday between Blantyre and Whistleberry.

Police said the car is thought to have been travelling on the wrong side of the road.

The man on the motorbike was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Hairmyres hospital for treatment.

Since the accident, the A725 has been shut in both directions between Raith Interchange and Blantyre cut off.

Traffic Scotland have said the road will be closed for 'several hours' and have advised drivers to take alternate routes.
