An armed robber threatened staff with a knife during a raid on a shop in Glasgow.

The thief targeted the McColl Ltd store on Househillwood Road, Pollok, at around 12.15pm on Tuesday.

Two female staff members, aged 31 and 81, were working when the hooded man entered the shop.

He threatened the pair with a knife and demanded money.

The suspect then ran out of the shop with a three-figure sum of cash and a quantity of scratch cards leaving the shop assistants scared but uninjured.

The raider, who was wearing a scarf covering his face and hood up, has been described as white, 5ft 8in and was wearing a black parka-style jacket with a white badge on the chest, light jeans and black trainers with white soles.

He was last seen heading along Househillwood Road towards Silverburn shopping centre.

Constable Kimberley Douglas said: "Luckily in this case no one was physically hurt although it was a traumatic experience for the women working in the shop and it's vital that we catch the man responsible as he could very well strike again.

"I'd like to speak to anyone who may have seen this man hanging around the area prior to the robbery taking place or anyone who has seen him running off afterwards."
