A 61-year-old man has died after being knocked down by a taxi in the west end of Glasgow.

The victim was walking along Dumbarton Road in Partick, near the junction of Hayburn Street, when he was struck by the vehicle.

Emergency services attended at the scene, however the pedestrian was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The 66-year-old taxi driver was uninjured in the collision, which happened at around 9.50pm on Sunday.

The road was closed for around four hours while police carried out an investigation.

Sergeant Nicola Taylor is now appealing for witnesses to come forward. Those who were driving on Dumbarton Road at the time of the crash and have dashcam footage are also asked to get in touch.
