Concern is growing for the well-being of a 15-year-old boy who has been missing for a week with no money or change of clothes.

Declan Akelis, from Airdrie, was last seen on Monday, January 7 and police believe he may have travelled to Hamilton, Blantyre or East Kilbride.

When the teenager was last seen he was wearing blue Nike tracksuit bottoms, a black North Face jacket and light grey Nike trainers.

He is described as having a stocky build with a ruddy complexion, blue eyes and shaved fair hair.

Declan is not thought to have any money on him and is likely to be wearing the same clothes he went missing in.

Police Constable Brian McKinley, Hamilton Police Office, said: "Declan has been reported missing before and has previously been traced in Hamilton, Blantyre or East Kilbride - however he is only 15 years old and as time goes on, we are growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing.

"We do not believe that he has any money on him and is likely to be wearing the same clothes he was last seen in.

"Officers have been speaking to his family and friends in efforts to trace him and would appeal to anyone who knows of his whereabouts to get in touch.

"Declan, we would also ask you to get in touch and let us know where you are. We just want to make sure you are safe."
