Two people have been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle road accident involving a HGV on the M8 in Glasgow.

Two lanes between junction 14 and 15 at Fruitmarket eastbound have been restricted following the crash, which happened at 2.40pm on Wednesday.

The smash has caused major disruption for football fans heading to Edinburgh.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told STV News that the accident initially involved a car and a lorry.

There have been no reports of any serious injuries, however two people have been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary to be checked over.

Emergency services are still at the scene awaiting recovery of the vehicles involved.

Traffic Scotland has warned drivers to expect delays and advised motorists to approach with caution.
