A flight heading into a Scottish airport was forced to land on grass after its engine failed.

Emergency services were called after the light aircraft, a G-BTFC Reims-Cessna F152, failed to come to a stop on the runway at Prestwick Airport on Wednesday.

The plane's engine failed but the airport said no one was injured during the incident.

A Prestwick Airport spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that there was an incident at Glasgow Prestwick Airport involving a Cessna 152 which had over run the runway due to engine failure.

"This incident was quickly stood down and we can confirm that there was no injuries or damage to the aircraft."
