A man repeatedly punched a teenage girl before throwing her against a wall during an attack in a Glasgow train station.

The 14-year-old victim was with three other children when the assault took place on platform 8 of Queen Street Station at around 1pm on Saturday, February 16.

The suspect, who hit the teenage girl in the face two or three times before pushing her into the wall, is described as having a heavy build and wearing a lilac shirt.

The attack only stopped when a passer-by intervened to help the girl.

Police officers investigating the incident are now appealing for information.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, especially the Good Samaritan who intervened."
