The body of a man has been found in a burnt-out car near a hotel.

Emergency services were called to Row Avenue next to the Premier Inn in Renfrew at 10.30pm on Monday.

A white tent is understood to have been erected near the Harmony Row football pitches next to the Braehead shopping centre.

Police are trying to identify the man whose death is being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem is due to be a carried out.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Formal identification is still to take place and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
