A man has allegedly been slashed in the face during a fight outside a pub in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the lane beside The Melody Bar on Caledonian Road, Wishaw, at around 5pm on Monday.

The 35-year-old was taken to hospital after the alleged attack.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 5pm on Monday night we ware called to reports of a man having been injured during an altercation within a lane near to Caledonian Road, Wishaw.

"He was taken to Wishaw General Hospital and released after treatment.

"A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
