Two teenagers have been arrested after a man with special needs was badly injured in an alleged knife attack.

Police were called to the scene after reports a man had been attacked at his home in Tiree Street, Germiston at around 3am on Saturday.

The victim was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to stab and slash wounds and medical staff have described his condition as stable.

Officers have now confirmed that two men aged 17 and 18 have been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Around 3am on Saturday, police were called to a report of a man injured during an altercation within a property in Tiree Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and a 54 year old man was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment. Medical staff describe his condition as stable.

"Two men, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Maryhill CID via 101."
