A woman has been arrested after a teenager was allegedly attacked at a country park in North Lanarkshire.

Caitlin Shepherd, 19, said she was dragged out of her car and assaulted while out driving with her friends in Strathclyde Country Park, Motherwell, on Sunday night.

Following the assault, she posted graphic images of her injuries onto Facebook which showed blood pouring from her nose and mouth.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that a 19-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The force said: "A 19-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged assault of another 19-year-old woman in a car park in Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, on Sunday."

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
