A man has been left with severe facial injuries after being attacked in his own home.

The 36-year-old was inside his house in Hawick Crescent, Larkhall, when two men broke in on Friday afternoon and assaulted him.

The two suspects then got into a silver or grey Jaguar X -Type car that was driven by a third man which made off at speed onto Socita Crescent.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital and later transferred to Monklands Hospital where he was treated for severe facial injuries.

Both men are described as white and aged between 40 and 50-years-old.

One was wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt and had a muscular build with tattoos on both arms.

Detective Constable Ashley Hind said: "This was a very brutal attack on an innocent man.

"Anyone who was in the vicinity and may have seen the suspects or a silver/grey car hanging about is asked to contact police immediately.

"Anyone who has the suspects or vehicle captured on their Dash Cam is also asked to contact police as this could prove vital in tracing those responsible for this despicable act of violence."
