A man who was stabbed during a brawl in the aftermath of Sunday's Old Firm game remains in a critical condition.

The 47-year-old was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary after he was injured in the Merchant City.

Police, who are treating the attack as attempted murder, are investigating whether the trouble was linked to the Celtic v Rangers game that took place in the city just hours earlier.

Two other men who were stabbed during the large-scale disturbance on Blackfriars Street were also taken to hospital but have since been released.

Investigating officers say the attacks on the 29 and 30-year-old are being treated as serious assaults.

Detective Inspector Peter Crombie said: "We are treating the attack on the 47-year-old man as attempted murder, and the attacks on the 29 and 30-year-old men as serious assaults.

"We also know that there were a number of people in the area who may have got caught up in it, or stopped to see what was going on.

"We would ask these people to check back and see if they have any mobile phone footage or images that can help us."
