A man has been found with serious injuries on an Ayrshire street.

The 47-year-old was taken to hospital after being found on Mosshead Road, Kilmarnock at around 2am on Saturday.

Medical staff have described his condition as serious.

Police are now investigating the incident in a bid to establish the full extent and circumstances of the man's injuries.

The street, near to its junction with Broomhill Quadrant, has been cordoned off as officers continue their enquires.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "At around 2am on Saturday 13th April, police were called to a report of 47-year-old being seriously injured on Mosshead Road in Kilmarnock.

"He was taken to University Crosshouse Hospital where he remains and enquires into the incident are continuing."
