A schoolboy has been left seriously injured after being struck by a double-decker bus in Glasgow.

The 14-year-old was hit by a number 75 service bus on Castlemilk Drive at around 6.45pm on Wednesday.

Around eight police cars and an ambulance were called to the area and the boy was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

While police were in attendance, officers arrested two women after an alleged fight broke out near the scene.

The incident is believed to be unrelated to the boy being knocked down.

Castlemilk Drive was closed to traffic for most of Wednesday night as police investigated and took witness statements.

A police spokeswoman confirmed the incidents.

She said: "We were called to Castlemilk Drive at 6.45pm on Wednesday after reports a 14-year-old boy had been hit by a bus.

"Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital."
