A three-year-old girl has been injured during an attempted carjacking.

The girl suffered cuts to her legs after a man smashed a passenger-side window in Johnstone.

The incident happened around midnight on Friday after her 29-year-old dad was threatened with a stun gun while making a takeaway delivery in Cochranemill Road.

He made it back to his Nissan Micra, which had his daughter and partner inside, but the attacker chased the car and smashed the window.

Detective Inspector Robert Bowie, of Paisley Police Office, said: "This was a terrifying incident for this young family and luckily they were not seriously injured during this attack.

"A dark-coloured vehicle van was seen in Cochranehill Road whilst this incident took place, and I am appealing to the occupants of that vehicle to get in touch.

"At this time we are appealing to anyone who has any information on this crime to contact us as soon as possible through 101 quoting reference number 0013 of 19th April 2019."
