Police have swooped in on a Glasgow park following reports of a mass disturbance among bank holiday revellers.

Officers were called to Kelvingrove Park in the city's West End at around 4.30pm on Good Friday.

Police on horseback have been called in to control the crowd. A helicopter has also been sent to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman said emergency services remain in attendance and arrests have been made.

They said: "Police were called at 4.30pm today to reports of a disturbance involving a large number of people at Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance."

The force earlier advised that extra patrols would be put in place across the park this weekend.

They warned that drinking alcohol in the park was an offence, adding: "Don't take the chance of being charged."
