A man was stabbed and another slashed on the arm during a brawl in the grounds of a Glasgow school.

Police were called to Govan High School on Ardnish Street at around 7pm on Easter Sunday after reports of a fight.

On arrival they found a 20-year-old man with a stab wound and another man, 21, with lacerations on his arm.

Both men were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Police said enquiries have revealed that a "large group" of young people had gathered in the school's grounds before the disturbance broke out.

Officers are now carrying out door to door enquiries and are gathering CCTV footage in a bid to find those responsible.

Detective constable Alyson Dowds said: "This incident happened around 7pm on a warm, sunny evening and I'm sure plenty of people will have been out and about making the most of the weather.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and who may have heard or seen anything to contact us. We know a number of people were within the local high school and I'm appealing to them to contact us directly.

"Two men have been injured and we need to establish exactly what and why this has happened. If anyone has any information, please do pass it on to us."
