A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a mass brawl in Glasgow after an Old Firm match.

Kyle Beard, 24, has been accused of assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder after a 47-year-old man was reportedly stabbed during a fight on Blackfriars Street in the Merchant City area at around 5pm on March 31.

Beard, of Glasgow, made no plea during a private heating at the city's sheriff court on Saturday.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in court within the next week.

Six other people have also been arrested and charged in connection with the large-scale disturbance.

On Thursday, Jack Docherty, 27, faced three assault charges and one for breach of the peace.

He made no plea and was granted bail pending further investigation.

Last Monday, Kahl Cullen, 23, Gemma Martin, 24, Andrew Quinn, 25, William Barclay, 27, and James Quinn, 20, made no plea when they appeared in court charged with breach of the peace.

They were also granted bail pending their next court appearance.
