Ambrose tips McGinn to become Scotland's talisman
Hibs centre-half Efe Ambrose tipped the departing John McGinn to reach the top.
Hibs defender Efe Ambrose tipped his former teammate John McGinn to become a leader for Scotland should his move to Aston Villa work out.
Midfielder McGinn has opted to join the Villains after bids from both the Championship side and Celtic were accepted by Hibs.
Ambrose believes the 23-year-old, who has nine caps for his country, has the potential to become Scotland's talisman in the coming years.
He said: "The most important thing is to get the right move, that will determine how far he can go.
"Sometimes you get the wrong club and that is it, nobody hears about you anymore.
"We want him to get the right move, not just for the money but the right place where he can develop into a future star for Scotland.
"I believe he has the quality to be that kind of player, to lead the national team."
Ambrose and McGinn played key roles as Hibs won the Championship two seasons ago before continuing to impress upon their return to the top flight last campaign.
Dylan McGeough has also left the Edinburgh side this summer, but Ambrose is optimistic Neil Lennon still has players at his disposal to fill the midfield void.
He added: "We know John is a good player, there's no doubt about it.
"Everyone would like to keep John but we have players who can fill his shoes, we've played some games without John and done very well.
"With John, it would be better but without John, we can still do it."
