Football Talk: Hibs get winger, Caldwell for Thistle
Your daily round-up of what's happening across Scottish football and beyond.
It may be international week but Hibs head coach Neil Lennon hasn't idle while the Premiership takes a break.
Lennon has been working to add to what's already a formidable attack at Easter Road and is set to recruit Greek winger Charalampos Mavrias. The former Sunderland, Panathinaikos and Karlsruher player is available as a free agent after leaving Rijeka in the summer.
Meanwhile, Partick Thistle failed in a last-ditch attempt to persuade Robbie Neilson to join them as manager last week but they are now closing in on Gary Caldwell as their new boss.
The debate over plastic pitches isn't likely to end soon. It's being reported that top flight players are to sign a petition asking the SPFL to outlaw artificial surfaces in the Premiership. That would mean a quarter of the league would have to rip it up and start again if the players' request is heeded.
And under-fire Scotland boss Alex McLeish has let Kieran Tierney leave his squad to rest instead of playing the European champions Portugal.
McLeish is looking for a performance to lift the mood after the dismal defeat in Israel and may ring the changes for the match at Hampden.
