Pat Fenlon hails turnaround of Hibs and Inverness as pair prepare to clash
Top of SPL match for teams who were mired in relegation struggle last term.
Pat Fenlon thinks few people would have had Hibernian’s trip to Inverness down as a top of the table clash back in August.
With Fenlon and opposite number Terry Butcher having to overhaul their squads over the summer the two sides both had an element of the unknown to them, with Hibs finishing 11th the previous year and Inverness one place higher in 10th.
As Hibs prepare to travel north to the Caledonian Stadium Fenlon praised Inverness’ award-winning November and warned his men to stay focused to remain in contention at the top of the SPL.
He said: “They’ve had a fantastic month. Celtic and Aberdeen away are two tricky venues and to get six points out of six is some achievement.
“You’d have got good odds on ourselves and Inverness battling it out for second and third place at the start of the season but there’s very little between all the teams in the league.
“We know that a couple of bad results could see us sliding down so it’s important we stay focused.
“[Butcher] has got a good blend. We feel we’ve got a good blend here too in the dressing room and that seems to be the case up there.
“They lost some big players last season but one or two have come in and done really well for them.
“When you have to build a team over again it is difficult so you have to give them great credit for where they are at the moment.”
