Erik Sviatchenko has Celtic medical ahead of move from Midtjylland
Danish defender will sign a three-and-a-half year with Ronny Deila's team
FC Midtjylland defender Erik Sviatchenko is having a medical at Celtic ahead of signing a three-and-a-half year deal with the Scottish champions.
The Denmark international will become the club's first signing of the January transfer window for a fee in the region of £1.5m, having been linked with Ronny Deila’s men during the summer.
The 24-year-old has been a key player for Midtjylland, helping them to the Danish title in 2014/15 as well as securing progression to the last 32 stage of the Europa League where they will face Manchester United.
Sviatchenko has represented his country four times and is expected to compete for a place in the Celtic first team.
Celtic are continuing to work on a number of deals in this transfer window as they aim to secure a domestic treble.
Deila's men went six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership following Friday's 4-1 win over Dundee United at Tannadice.
