Celtic closing in on move for Icelandic striker Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson
The 20-year-old spent time on trial with Neil Lennon's side and could move in January.
Celtic are closing in on a move for Icelandic striker Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson.
The 20-year-old, who scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for Fram in the 2013 season, is subject to a transfer bid from the Scottish champions.
STV understands Fridjonsson, who spent time on trial at Lennoxtown earlier this month, would cost Celtic £120,000 as part of a structured deal.
Both clubs are in negotiations over the transfer of the player, with a deal appearing to be imminent to complete his signing at the start of the January transfer window.
Fram chairman Sverrir Einarsson told STV: "We have received an offer. We responded to Celtic last night and we are waiting to hear again from them. They are not far away [in terms of the transfer fee].
"I think we are hoping it will happen. It would good for him, Celtic would be a very good club for him.
"He was satisfied himself with the club and he was very happy to be there [when on trial].
"He has potential. He is a special type of player. He is a very good guy and he has his family behind him.
"I would be disappointed if he didn't go all the way in the game. I believe that he will."
Fridjonsson scored 10 goals in 21 league appearances for Fram, who finished just above the relegation zone this year. He also scored twice in two cup appearances.
The 6ft 3in striker has also represented Iceland at Under-21 level, finding the net in his last international against France in a 4-3 defeat.
