Wesley Sneijder's brother to play for Dundee United in Dutch friendly
Rodney Sneijder will get a chance to impress manager Jackie McNamara against AZ Alkmaar.
Dundee United have offered a trial to the brother of Dutch star Wesley Sneijder and will see him in action in a friendly in the Netherlands.
Rodney Sneijder has been training with Jackie McNamara's side and is currently a free agent. He is set to play for united in Tuesday's friendly against AZ Alkmaar.
The 24-year-old midfielder was recommended to McNamara by former Celtic player Pierre van Hooijdonk, who is now an agent and negotiated Nadir Ciftci's move to Celtic.
Sneijder began his career at Ajax, where his older brother made his name, but moved to Utrecht after two years as a senior player. He has also played for RKC Waalwijk and was most recently at Eerste Divisie side Almere City.
While Wesley has enjoyed a career at Europe's top clubs, Rodney has not made the step up despite being linked with high-profile moves in the past. He was reportedly approached by Real Madrid as a youth but the move was blocked by his older brother and was also said to be a target for Galatasaray earlier this year.
