Ex-Ivory Coast international Guy Demel signs for Dundee United
The full-back has been without a club since leaving West Ham in the summer.
Dundee United have signed ex-Ivory Coast international Guy Demel until the end of the season.
The 34-year-old will join Mixu Paatelainen's side once the club are granted international clearance.
The full-back played for Bundesliga sides Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg before joining Premier League side West Ham United, where he made 76 first team appearances for the club.
He was released at the end of the 2014-15 season at the end of his contract and has been without a club side since.
Speaking to United's official website, Demel said: "Once I spoke to the Head Coach, I was excited by the challenge of Dundee United and the role he has planned for me.
"I want to identify myself with the club. I have many years of experience in football and if I can use my knowledge to help the younger players here that is what I will do.
"I have been training hard and I cant wait to play for Dundee United. I am ready as soon as the Head Coach needs me."
Demel, who will wear the number 55, shirt arrives at Tannadice as Paatelainen's third signing following the return of defender Gavin Gunning and Japanese goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima.
"Guy comes with a lot experience and fantastic pedigree," said the United boss.
"He can add a lot to our squad. He is a powerful player but above all a good footballer. He will be a strong character in our dressing room and I am delighted to start working with him."
