Dundee United trial for former Chesterfield defender Neal Trotman
The 26-year-old centre back is a free agent after leaving the League Two side.
English central defender Neal Trotman has joined Dundee United on trial.
The 26-year-old is a free agent, having left Chesterfield in the summer, and has linked up with Jackie McNamara's side as they continue their preparation for the new season.
Trotman started his career with Burnley, failing to make a senior appearance before moving on to Oldham Athletic.
A three-year spell with Preston North End followed but he failed to settle, being sent out on loan to Colchester United, Southampton, Huddersfield Town and his former side Oldham.
A permanent move to Rochdale then followed in 2011, making 12 appearances before being sent on loan to Chesterfield in November of the same year.
A deal with the Spireites followed, playing 50 times for the club before his release in the summer.
McNamara also confirmed that trialists Graham Carey and Jean Yves Koue will not be offered deals by the club.
