St Johnstone and Hibs aim to sign Sheffield Utd's Stefan Scougall
Portsmouth are also interested in securing the midfielder's services.
St Johnstone and Hibernian are interested in signing former Scotland U21 international Stefan Scougall from Sheffield United, STV understands.
Alan Stubbs' men have made an approach to sign the playmaker on loan while Saints are keen on a permanent deal.
Both Scottish clubs face competition from League Two outfit Portsmouth, who want on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Scougall has made 15 appearances for the Blades this term but hasn't featured since the middle of December.
The 23-year-old moved to Bramall Lane from Livingston in January 2014 and has worked under Nigel Clough and Nigel Adkins.
However the midfielder has fallen out of favour recently and could be tempted by a move back to Scotland.
