Terry Butcher issues deadline to players as St Johnstone eye striker
Out of contract stars have until May 31 to commit to Inverness as SPL rivals circle.
Inverness manager Terry Butcher has given his out of contract players a deadline of Thursday to tell him if they are staying or leaving.
Butcher has offered the likes of Greg Tansey, Jonny Hayes, Ross Tokely, Gregory Tade, Thomas Piermayr, Billy McKay and Owain Tudur Jones new deals.
Players like Tade, Tansey and Hayes are drawing attention from Caley’s SPL rivals and Butcher would like to get an answer from them soon so he can stay making his own moves in the transfer market.
The Inverness boss said: "We've made what we think are decent offers in a challenging financial environment. We're waiting for replies.
“It's understandable that players needed time to make a decision but we have the live possibility of bringing in new players and we're keen to finalise the squad much earlier than we managed to do last season.
"We've been advanced in doing our detailed homework this time and we have prospective new players earmarked. We're looking at new faces for quite a few sections of the team but it depends whether players in those positions re-sign for us."
One club who are keen on Tade are St Johnstone. Manager Steve Lomas, who is also talking to former Caley keeper Jonny Tuffey, hopes that the incentive of ties in the Europa League next term could persuade the former Raith Rovers attacker to sign up at McDiarmid Park.
Lomas told The Sun: “Gregory is someone we like. We want a physical presence and he is a powerful centre-forward.
“We must replace Fran Sandaza’s goals, so we’ll see what happens. Maybe the lure of Europe will give us an edge.”
