Ross Tokely hopes to stay at Inverness for taste of an SPL Highland derby
Out-of-contract defender hoping he has not reached the end of the road with Caley Thistle.
Inverness defender Ross Tokely is determined to stay and fight for his place in the team.
Tokely has made nearly 500 appearances since joining from Huntly in 1996 and is out of contract in the summer.
The 33-year-old does not want tomorrow's SPL clash against Hibernian to be his farewell match but he will not be content to sit on the bench next season.
Asked if he was hopeful of remaining at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium, Tokely said: "Yeah, we have got a few things to discuss and we'll see.
"At my age I'm not wanting to be on the bench, or a squad player. I don't think I have the divine right to start every week but I should definitely get the chance to do that and if not then I'll look to get out and play somewhere else.
"I'll definitely fight for my place, if I'm not going to be a regular it won't be for me next year."
While his future is uncertain, the defender is relishing the thought of the return of Highland derbies against Ross County if he stays on next season.
Tokely added: "I've played in a lot of games over the years but to have the two north sides in the SPL is great for the area.
"They were unbelievable this year, Derek Adams has done a great job. They will be very dangerous next year."
