Kilmarnock sign Reuben Gabriel and Papa Idris on three-year deals
Kenny Shiels says he is unlikely to continue to use the Nigerian market despite bringing in the pair.
Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has confirmed the arrival of Reuben Gabriel and Papa Idris on three-year contracts.
STV understands the Rugby Park side have gained work permit endorsements from the Scottish FA for the pair, who are both free agents having left Kano Pillars earlier in the season.
Defender Idris, 23, has been capped three times by his country while midfielder Gabriel, 22, was in the Nigeria squad for the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
And speaking to STV, Shiels said: “They’ve both signed and we’re just waiting on some last-minute paper work on Papa Idris but everything is through for Reuben Gabriel.
“They are experienced international players, they are young and we are hoping they can bring that international experience that sits well with our style of play."
Gabriel and Idris become the latest Nigerians to join the Ayrshire side following Rabiu Ibrahim's arrival from Celtic in January.
The 22-year-old has only made one substitute appearance for the club since joining in January. However Shiels says he doesn't expect to continually shop in the Nigerian market.
He said: "Definitely not because we'll have three and that is enough. It is totally adequate and it is something we can manage and work with."
