Ally McCoist keen to keep Lee Wallace as Rangers deny bids for defender
Ibrox boss denies rumours that Brighton and Hove Albion had made offer for defender.
Rangers manager Ally McCoist says he is hopeful of keeping defender Lee Wallace through the transfer window.
Left back Wallace was subject of speculation linking him with a bid by English Championship outfit Brighton and Hive Albion this week.
But McCoist denies any bid has been received since the Ibrox men rejected advances from Nottingham Forest in January.
The Gers boss told the the official Rangers FC website: “Lee is a very important player to us.
“We’ve had absolutely no contact from Brighton and Hove Albion at all and no, I don’t expect him to go.
“I’d be hopeful as manager of the club that we can keep our best players and Lee certainly falls into that category.”
McCoist also denied reports that former St Mirren, Norwich and Cardiff defender Simon Lappin was on trial with Rangers this week.
