Alan Hutton: 'I need to prove to everybody I deserve to be at Mallorca'
The Scottish international right back has moved to La Liga on loan for the rest of the season.
Alan Hutton is determined to prove his doubters wrong and use his international experience to help Real Mallorca move out of relegation danger in La Liga.
The Scottish international right back has moved to the Spanish side on a loan deal until the end of the season, having made no appearances for Aston Villa this campaign.
Mallorca are second bottom with 17 games left to play, three points adrift of Granada.
"It is a massive responsibility," Hutton said as he was unveiled as a Mallorca player. "I understand my role and what I have to do.
"I have been in high pressure situations before, with big international games, so hopefully I can put all that experience I have into Mallorca and help them get up the table.
"It would be a brilliant thing for me to stay on. First and foremost I know I need to prove to everybody what I can give to the team and that I deserve to be here.
"There are a lot of flair players here to deal with. I hope that will help me improve my game and become a better player in the long run."
Hutton's only competitive action this season came in seven games on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship, and five international games with Scotland.
He added: "This is a great opportunity. It's something totally different to come to a different country and experience different things.
"I am happy to be here. When I heard I was over the moon.
"[It was] probably a couple of months ago I first heard. As soon as I heard, there was only one choice for me.
"I am happy to be here and looking forward to being involved in what's going on in the future."
