Hibs sign former Bolton striker
Ricardo Vaz Te agrees a deal to join Hibernian until the end of the season.
Hibernian have completed the signing of Portuguese striker Ricardo Vaz Te. The former Bolton player has joined Colin Calderwood’s side on a short-term contract that expires at the end of the season.
Vaz Te, who has also played for Farense and Panionios, has been on trial at the Edinburgh club and has impressed the Hibs manager enough to be handed a deal.
Calderwood outlined the player’s attributes and predicted that Vaz Te would be of real benefit to his side as a they look to keep their resurgence on track.
"It is great to be able to add Ricardo to the squad; he has terrific technical ability and pace,” he said.
"He has shown strength of character to overcome some injury problems during his time at Bolton and we believe he has got the ability to make an impact in the Scottish Premier League.
"Ricardo is a different type of striker to what we already have at our disposal in the squad and gives us extra options."
The player said he was delighted to have secured his short-term future and said he had been impressed since arriving at Easter Road.
"I really like it here - the city is great and there is a great ambience in the dressing room,” the former Portugal Under-21 international said. “Everybody at the club has been very warm and they have welcomed me. I'm hoping to give something back now.
"The manager hasn't really said much to me about my role within the squad, but he told me he appreciates me as a player and every player likes to hear that.
"He believes in my capabilities, so I'm hoping not to disappoint him. He believes I can help the team and hopefully the team can also help me.
"The team is like a family - they have got a special union and I'm pleased to be here."
