Francis Jeffers set for Motherwell
Former Everton and Rangers striker awaits international clearance ahead of Fir Park move.
STV Sport understands that former Rangers striker Francis Jeffers could be set for a return to the SPL after agreeing terms with Motherwell.
Jeffers has been searching for a new club after leaving Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets in December, although he will have to wait until Sunday to receive international clearance for the move to Scotland.
The 30-year old striker has previously enjoyed spells with Everton, Arsenal and Charlton Athletic. Jeffers' last spell in Scotland, in 2005, ended in disappointment when a loan deal with Rangers was cut short after just eight games for the club.
Well boss Stuart McCall had previously stated that he was unaware of any approach for the former England cap, although he has admitted he was on the search for a new striker after losing out on a loan deal for Nick Blackman to SPL rivals Aberdeen.
Motherwell fans will now be hoping Jeffers can bring some much needed firepower to a side that has scored just three league goals since the start of the year.
