Edinburgh 17-21 Glasgow Warriors: Glasgow retain 1872 Cup
Gregor Townsend’s men came out on top at Murrayfield to win the trophy for the fourth successive year.
Glasgow Warriors retained the 1872 Cup for the fourth successive year after beating Edinburgh 21-17 at Murrayfield.
Handling errors proved costly for the hosts who left it too late to mount a comeback.
Gregor Townsend’s side started well and scored the opening try of the match when Sean Maitland crashed over.
Greig Laidlaw was struggling to find his range with the boot and his pop up pass was intercepted, allowing Ruaridh Jackson to score in the corner.
Two penalties from Peter Horne gave the visitors a healthy half-time lead and Henry Prygos scored a third try after the interval.
Rody Grant’s converted score after 59 minutes gave the home fans something to shout about and a fine piece of individual skill from Tim Visser brought a second try five minutes from time.
However it wasn’t enough to stop Glasgow retaining the trophy with ease.
