Jamie Murray and partner Bruno Soares suffered defeat in their opening match at the ATP World Tour Finals in London.
The Scot and his Brazilian partner went down in a deciding tie-break to American twins Bob and Mike Bryan.
The Bryans broke serve at the end of the first set to clinch it 7-5 before taking an early lead in the second.
Murray and Soares battled back and forced a tie-break, which they won 7-3.
In the deciding match tie-break, it was the Bryans who edged to a 10-8 victory.
Murray and Soares now face an uphill battle to qualify from their group for the semi-finals.
