A dad has died following a house fire which left his 13-month-old daughter injured.

Neil Thompson, 35, died in hospital on Saturday after a blaze ripped through a property on MacDonald Drive in Lossiemouth, Moray, last month.

At least 40 firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at 3.45am on Thursday, February 21.

His daughter suffered serious burns while a 31-year-old woman was also injured in the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Sadly the man died on Saturday at Glasgow Royal Infirmary from his injuries."

Inspector Norman Stevenson added: "My thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident."

STV News previously told how a neighbour, who heard the woman screaming about her child, threw a brick through her window and rescued the toddler.

Andrew O'Hara said: "I was in my back garden, saw a bunch of smoke and went to check it out.

"A lady was up there screaming for help. She came round from the back and told me her kid was still in there.

"Obviously the place was too smokey but I heard the scream of the baby and literally looked in the window and there she was, so I grabbed her."
